Obedience training for Puppys and Dogs at PAWS doggy day care Leigh, Classes are held Monday evnings for advanced classes & Tuesdays for beginners, under 6 months 7-8pm, over 6 months 8-9pm. they are priced at £30 for a 4 week course, lessons start the beginning of each month. The kennel club Good citizen Dog Scheme Puppy Foundation aims to provide a means to lay down a foundation for educating and training.
On successful completion of the course puppies will respond to their handlers will have an awareness of the responsibilities of dog ownership.
Constructive play and suitable incentives are encouraged within this puppy training programme.
Age definition – up to maximum of 12 months old.
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze award aims to produce a dog that will walk and behave in a controlled manner on the lead, will stay in one position on command, will allow its owner to clean, groom and inspect it. The dog must also be able to be positioned by its handler for inspection i.e stand, sit or lie down all on the lead. The dog must come to hand when called. The Bronze Award aims to provide the handlers with a basic knowledge of understanding and training their canine companion.
No age limit. Dogs are not required to have completed the puppy foundation course
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver award aims to build upon the skills learned in the bronze award whilst increasing the level of difficulty. The Silver Award is a natural progression of practical dog training skills and introduces new concepts such as the controlled greeting, road walk and vehicle control exercises which are important in everyday life situations. The silver Award aims to provide handlers with a good knowledge of understanding and training their canine companion.
Only accept dogs that have been awarded a Bronze award certificate.
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Gold Award is the highest level of achievement of the scheme. It builds upon the skills learnt n the silver award and develops more advance training skills of the dog and handler. The Gold award is a natural progression of practical dog training skills and introduces new concepts such as relaxed isolation, stop the dog and send to bed exercises, which are important in everyday life situations. The gold award aims to provide handlers with a greater knowledge and understanding of their canine companion. Dogs that are awarded a gold certificate should reach the required standards in all exercises and be a worthy representative of the schemes highest standard. Where possible it is preferable that certain exercises are tested at indoor and outdoor locations.
Only accept dogs that has been successfully awarded the silver award certificate.
We cover walking on a loose lead, re call, jumping, nipping and biting, how diet affects behaviour, basic positions and any other problems you may be having, at the end of the month we put all we have learned into a group off lead walk with trainers on hand if needed, once you have completed beginners you can then move onto The Kennel Club Training Schemes please note for dog socialisation please see our Day Care page.

Fun agility at PAWS starts the first Friday of Each month and is a 4 week Course priced at £30, all equipment is competition standard and will be taught to the same level, we will work with your dog on each piece of equipment and go at your dogs own pace, you dog dosent have to have done agility before to come along, to book please call reception on
